Acclaimed actor John Malkovich is set to portray President Coriolanus Snow in the world premiere of The Hunger Games: On Stage, opening this autumn in London. His performance will be featured on screen during every show, blending cinematic presence with live theatre in a bold new production.
The adaptation marks the first time Suzanne Collins’s internationally celebrated novel and Lionsgate’s blockbuster film have been brought to the stage. Malkovich expressed his excitement, saying, “Playing President Coriolanus Snow will be thrilling, because I have long been an admirer of Suzanne Collins’s novels, the films and Conor McPherson’s writing.”
Joining Malkovich is a dynamic cast led by Mia Carragher as Katniss Everdeen, Euan Garrett as Peeta Mellark, and Joshua Lacey as Haymitch Abernathy. The ensemble includes Tristan Waterson, Tamsin Carroll, Stavros Demetraki, Nathan Ives-Moiba, Sophia Ally, Ruth Everett and many more talented performers.
Performances begin on 20 October 2025 at the newly constructed Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, a 1,200-seat venue designed specifically for this immersive production. The press night is scheduled for 12 November.
Adapted by Conor McPherson and directed by Matthew Dunster, the show promises a gripping retelling of Katniss Everdeen’s fight for survival and justice in a dystopian world. The creative team features leading designers and choreographers, including Miriam Buether, Moi Tran, Charlotte Broom and Lucy Carter.
With over 100 million copies sold and a film franchise grossing more than $3.4 billion globally, The Hunger Games continues to captivate audiences. Collins’s latest novel, Sunrise on the Reaping, will be released as a major motion picture in 2026.
