Artistic Director Tom Wright will direct How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical this festive season as his inaugural Christmas production at Leeds Playhouse. Produced in association with Running Subway, this brand new UK production promises to transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville for a magical Christmas adventure. The show is adapted from the original story by Dr Seuss and features music by Mel Marvin and book and lyrics by Timothy Mason.
West End performer Joel Montague will bring the iconic role of The Grinch to life on stage with his trademark comic timing, stage presence and exceptional musical theatre credentials. Montague has become well loved for his scene-stealing and comedic performances in musicals including Hamilton, Waitress, Elf the Musical, Falsettos, Funny Girl, School of Rock and Chicago.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical will open in Leeds Playhouse’s Quarry Theatre on 19th November 2026 and run until 16th January 2027. Throughout the run, there will be Relaxed and Dementia Friendly performances, as well as educational workshops delivered the theatre’s award-winning Playhouse Connect team. Tickets are on sale now.
