Following a sold-out run at Chichester Festival Theatre, the acclaimed musical The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry will transfer to London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket next year. Performances begin on 29 January 2026, with the official press night set for 10 February. The limited run continues until 18 April.
Priority tickets will be available from 9 September 2025, with general booking opening the following day. Fans can sign up for early access at HaroldFryMusical.com.
Adapted by Rachel Joyce from her bestselling novel, the production features music and lyrics by Passenger, whose chart-topping hit Let Her Go remains a fan favourite. Directed by Katy Rudd, the show has been praised by The Times as a “pitch-perfect musical” with “a ravishing score.”
Returning to their roles are Mark Addy as Harold and Jenna Russell as Maureen, with further casting to be announced.
Joyce expressed her excitement about the West End transfer, saying, “I never imagined the book would become a musical, let alone find a home at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, which I’ve loved since childhood.” Passenger added, “It’s been a real labour of love for everyone involved. I’m thrilled our journey with Harold Fry continues.”
The story follows Harold, an ordinary man who sets off on an extraordinary walk across England after receiving a letter from a long-lost friend. As he travels from Devon to Berwick-upon-Tweed, his journey becomes one of hope, redemption, and unexpected connection.
Creative credits include design by Samuel Wyer, choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves, and musical direction by Chris Poon. The production is presented by Chris Harper Productions and Nick Sidi, with Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen for Access Entertainment.
Passenger has also released Song For The Countryside, the first single from his concept album inspired by the musical. The video features Jack Wolfe and is available to view online.
