Sheffield Theatres, in association with Blackpool Grand Theatre, have announced casting for their upcoming co-production of Summer Holiday the Musical.
Aboard a double decker bus, Don and his friends are on a fun-packed trip to Paris, The Alps, Italy and Greece in search of a good time and a brilliant summer. On the way, they encounter pop bands, runaway pop stars and of course holiday romance. Especially adapted for Sheffield and featuring classic hits such as Summer Holiday, The Young Ones and Living Doll, Summer Holiday the Musical is set to put a smile on everyone’s faces.
The musical is based on the film of the same name which was directed by Peter Yates with a screenplay by Ronald Cass and Peter Myers. This stage adaptation is by Michael Gyngell and Mark Haddigan.
Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres Elizabeth Newman and Ben Occhipinti co-direct the show. Joining them in the creative team are: Set and Costume Designer Amanda Stoodley; Musical Director Richard Reeday; Movement Director Lesley Hutchinson; Lighting Designer Rory Beaton; Sound Designer Tom Marshall; Associate Director Eilidh Gibson; and Casting Director Arthur Carrington CDG.
The cast includes Fanta Barrie as Barbara, Jim Duah as Edwin, Niz Raza Hamilton as Angie, Robin Harris as Steve, Matthew James Hinchcliffe as Al, Damian Humbley as Jerry, George Jones as Don, Elliot Mackenzie as Cyril, Jane McCarry as Stella and Trudy Ward as Mimsie. In the ensemble are Ava Duncan and Isaac Savage. Charlie Hale and Tolia Uwalaka complete the company as Swings.

Summer Holiday the Musical opens at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre on 20th June 2026 and runs until 18th July 2026. It then transfers to Blackpool Grand Theatre from 29th July 2026 until 8th August 2026. Tickets are on sale now.
