Gina Beck to perform debut solo concert Soprano Songbird in Covent Garden

Gina Beck is set to perform her debut solo concert on 23 March, celebrating nearly two decades as one of the West End’s leading sopranos. The charity event, held at the iconic Actors’ Church in Covent Garden, aims to raise funds for the MS Society. Special guest star Simon Bailey (Come Alive, Phantom of the Opera) and the Sing Space Musical Theatre Choir will also feature.

Titled ‘Soprano Songbird – an evening with Gina Beck,’ the concert will showcase musical theatre favourites from shows Gina has starred in, such as Les Miserables, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, and Matilda. Simon Bailey, a long-time friend and co-star, will join her on stage. The Sing Space Musical Theatre Choir, the UK’s fastest-growing musical theatre choir for adults, will perform arrangements from Come From Away, The Sound of Music, Hairspray, and more.

Gina expressed her excitement about the concert, saying, “I’m thrilled to be performing in my first solo concert in support of the MS Society, a cause that is very close to my heart. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to perform in so many incredible shows over the years, and can’t wait for this special evening which will help raise much-needed funds for this wonderful charity. I’m delighted to sing with my dear friend, Simon, and the brilliant Sing Space Musical Theatre Choir.”

Kim Hatton, a member of the Northwood Sing Space Musical Theatre Choir who was diagnosed with MS in 1986, will also be performing. She shared, “Joining the Sing Space has been so beneficial to me in many ways. It has helped to improve my moods, breathing, manage stress and emotional wellbeing. Singing exercises have also helped tone my throat muscles and help maintain my speech. Being part of Northwood choir, led by the wonderful Alex Davies, has also provided a sense of community and social support which is crucial for somebody living with MS. My greatest moments have been the social events and having the opportunity to perform on stage alongside Gareth Malone. Northwood Sing Space choir organises lots of theatre trips, social nights after choir and lots more. The Sing Space do their very best to include disabled people giving us opportunities to perform on stage. I’m excited for the forthcoming year.”

Naomi Cromby, Community Fundraiser at the MS Society, welcomed Gina’s support, stating, “We’re so grateful to Gina, Simon and the Sing Space for putting on this fantastic concert to raise funds and awareness for the MS Society. The money raised will help us to continue funding world-leading research, sharing information and campaigning for the rights of people living with MS.”
