This Christmas, Leeds Playhouse’s new Artistic Director Tom Wright will stage a brand new production of Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical. The full cast and creative team has now been announced.
As previously announced, beloved musical theatre star Joel Montague will lead the company as The Grinch. Joining him will be local actor Jack Arnold, who makes his stage debut as Young Max, and Yorkshire star of TV and stage Matt Sutton as Old Max. Alison Fitzjohn will be Grandma Who, Luke Latchman is Papa Who, Sharon Wattis takes on the role of Mama Who and Timothy Speyer is set to play Grandpa Who.
The ensemble company features Tom Ansell, Sèyí Awe, Kathryn Barnes, Emily Barnett-Salter, Jessica Barton, Jack Campbell, Zephaniah Gould, Harumi Maeda, Cara Gabriella Thomas and Jacob Whawell.
The production will also feature of a company of 14 young performers: Aba Batista, Lulu Barker, Jack Booth, Rudy Bragg, Zane Chaba, Minnie Day, Issa Leach, Ellie McArdle, Oliver Maurice, Karis Musongole, Cole Nicholson, Harper Philpott, Haiden Sihapanya and Isabel Zhang.

Produced in association with Running Subway, this brand-new UK production will transport audiences to the whimsical world of Who-ville for a magical festive adventure. Featuring a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin, the musical brings Dr. Seuss’ beloved story to life with unforgettable songs, festive fun and plenty of heart.
Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical opens at Leeds Playhouse’s Quarry Theatre on 19th November 2026 and runs until 16th January 2027.
