A quick-witted hour-in-progress from a thoroughly likeable stand-up comedian.
Amy Mason is in crisis. Or so the NHS thinks. They’re so concerned; they’ve actually sent someone to her house to check on her. Crikey. It all started with the dildos, you see. The ones she found in her front porch. There’s a story here, but it’s best if we leave this for Mason to tell. She’s terribly good at it.
Behold! is a relatable and rollicking hour on how surreal life can be, to the point of questioning your own sanity at times. There’s tales of community spirit, dating and accidentally selling your house. The middle-class children of Bristol. The smallest silver lining in your offspring becoming disabled (the Disneyland benefits). Mason comes out with all the things we think but we’d never feel bold enough to admit. And we love her for it.
There’s a sense that Mason doesn’t realise how naturally funny and likeable she is (so far, so being a woman in 2025). Hopefully this review will help give her a boost. As she thrusts one of the unsolicited dildos into the air to finish the show, we see her for who she is. A champion for women everywhere; who are just trying to make sense of themselves, and this crazy world we live in.
Note: the show was previously advertised as Real Feel and has now been re-named as Behold!
