Leeds Playhouse will present a magical production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol this festive season. Today they announce their full cast and creative team for the festive treat.
Fresh from his heartfelt performance as Howard in Through It All Together, Reece Dinsdale takes on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. He will be joined on stage by Stephen Collins and Nadia Nadarajah as Bob and Mrs Cratchit. They both previously played the roles in 2020, when the Playhouse production was filmed and shared with audiences during the Covid lockdown. Collins was last seen as the Playhouse as Bill Sikes in Oliver Twist, while Nadarajah was recently seen as Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra at Shakespeare’s Globe.
West End star Claudia Kariuki (Shucked, Six the Musical, Sister Act) will play Christmas Present with Obioma Ugoala (Hamilton, Frozen) will take on the roles of Marley and Fezziwig.
The cast also includes Bea Glancy as Christmas Past; Paul Brown as Dick Wilkins and Topper; Danny Colligan as Fred and Young Scrooge; Finton Flynn as Peter Cratchit; and Amy Forrest as Belle and Mrs Fred.
Completing the adult cast are actor/musicians Jon Bonner; Matthew James Hinchcliffe, who will take on the role of Music Captain; Esther Lim; and Rosie Strobel.
The casting process for the role of Tiny Tim is ongoing.
The production is directed by Amy Leach, who has previously directed Animal Farm, Macbeth and Mr Snow at Leeds Playhouse. Deborah McAndrew has adapted Charles Dickens’ original story for this production.
Joining Leach and McAndrew on the creative team are set and costume designer Hayley Grindle; choreographer EJ Boyle; composer John Biddle; lighting designer Jai Morjaria; sound designer Ed Clarke; musical director Jonathan Mitra; BSL consultant Adam Bassett; audio description consultants Hear The Picture – Dan Parr and Esther Irving; casting director Lucy Casson CDG; children’s casting and general management Keston & Keston; and lead BSL interpreter Sarah Cox.
As part of Leeds Playhouse’s ongoing commitment to creative access, all performances from Thursday 27 November will feature creative audio description, available via headsets which can be collected from the box office.
A Christmas Carol runs in Leeds Playhouse’s Quarry Theatre from 20 November 2025 to 17 January 2026. Tickets are on sale now can be purchased online or over the phone.
