This Eagles tribute band has been touring for 30 years and this year’s new tour is their Hotel California Tour. The album was released 50 years ago and the band played it in ful with some other hits mixed in.
This show is a very well produced one, with fabulous lighting, captivating backdrops, and a well arranged stage so that the different musicians can be clearly seen and have room to move; especially important as three of them play more than one instrument, and sing too.
The musicians are highly talented, and flexible, with great stage presence. They each take a turn in speaking to the audience between songs. Mike Baker’s story about working in a guitar shop was especially enjoyable.
Song such as New Kid In Town and Tequila Sunrise are greeted with enthusiasm. By the time Life In The Fast Lane starts everyone is on their feet dancing or clapping.
When the band members leave the stage, the crowd goes crazy: clapping, stamping, whistling and screaming until they come back on. It is obvious they will be back as the title song has not featured earlier and it is just amazing, with Baker coming out with a double necked guitar and having streams of blue lights spotlight him.
The final song of the evening is the classic Take It Easy, which induces a much deserved standing ovation and many content smiles as everyone bustles out into the night.
Some are quite scathing of tribute acts but Illegal Eagles are definitely the next best thing to seeing the real band. Next year’s tour is going to be a Greatest Hits set, and should be as unmissable as this one.
