The hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will return to theatres across the UK with a special 10th anniversary tour, marking a decade since the show first premiered at the Sheffield Crucible.
The new tour will open at Leeds Grand Theatre from 15 to 23 January 2027, before visiting venues nationwide. To celebrate the milestone, the production will feature a brand-new song written by composer Dan Gillespie Sells and writer Tom MacRae.
Confirmed dates on the tour include Storyhouse, Chester (26–30 January), Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury (2–6 February), Sunderland Empire (9–13 February) and Festival Theatre, Edinburgh (16–20 February), with further stops planned in Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Southampton and beyond throughout spring and early summer 2027.
Inspired by the documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, the musical tells the uplifting story of Jamie New, a 16-year-old from a Sheffield council estate who dreams of becoming a drag queen. While rooted in real-life experiences, the stage version fictionalises certain characters and events to create its joyful and empowering narrative.
Originally produced by Sheffield Theatres, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie opened in 2017 before transferring to the West End later that year, where it ran until September 2021. The show has since enjoyed multiple UK and Ireland tours, international productions and a film adaptation directed by Jonathan Butterell, starring Max Harwood and Sarah Lancashire.
The anniversary tour will be directed by Matt Ryan and features an acclaimed creative team including designer Anna Fleischle, choreographer Kate Prince, lighting designer Lucy Carter, sound designer Paul Groothuis, musical supervisor Theo Jamieson and casting director Will Burton.
Producer Nica Burns said:
“Ten years ago I got on a train to Sheffield to see the final matinee of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and ten years later this heart-lifting true story with wonderful songs has played every inhabited continent.
“Join us on our tenth anniversary tour with a new song, a sparkling cast and a story that will make you laugh, cry, sing and want to dance. A show for everyone.”
Further tour dates and casting details will be announced.
