Captivate Theatre, bring you the perfect comedic show for all the family. Providing you the perfect take on the gloomy and whacky Addams Family.

The show starts off with a brilliant musical number that entices you into the performance. The young cast grasp you from the first moment they open their mouths. The power voices within the cast bring you into the performance within the first moments.

The story is fast paced and with a simple but extremely clever set of three mirror boards and six small pallet boxes. The cast used the set effectively to encapsulate the Addams household. The doubled-up cast play either a main role or an ancestry. However, each character was grasped perfectly by the individuals who brought their different personalities to light.

Some stand out performances that must be highlighted are Ollie Heimann, who plays the role of Gomez with brilliant comedic timing and such expressive eyebrows that could tell the story without a word being spoken. Heimanns’ perfect accent for Gomez and strong voice to lead the cast with ensured they were a standout performer.

Additionally, Sophie Gee who plays Wednesday Addams has a powerhouse voice for their age and puts on an incredible performance of the challenging song ‘Pulled’. Max Middleton who played Fester, brings an incredible performance of this role with playful, fun, comedic timing and is something that you surely wouldn’t want to miss. They provide energy to the show and are excellent to watch.

The ensemble cast who are dressed in white as the dearly departed predecessors of the Addams family, use the space effectively including placing themselves within the audience at moments to create the ghostly feel of the household.

The dinner party towards the end of the show is extremely memorable and comedic with lots of one-liners that will please everyone. Songs to watch out for include Trapped, Pulled, Secrets and Crazier than You.

The cast provide the story’s comical and sometimes sensitive elements as they attempt to resolve their family issues. With the talented young performers, Captivate Theatres’ production of The Addams Family: A New Musical is a delight to watch and something that should not be missed. It is perfect for the whole family.
