A magical cast has been announced to bring the dynamic and delightfully chaotic world of an eight year old accidental trouble magnet to life in Planet Omar, which brings to life Zanib Mian’s beloved characters on stage for the first time in an adaptation by Bradford playwright Asif Khan.
Justin Kendal-Sadiq, who will be familiar to young audiences from his role as Andy Stevens in CBBC’s Secret Life of Boys, plays Omar, an eight year old with a wild imagination, a big heart and a knack for getting in trouble.
Completing the cast as Umar Butt as Dad; Isobel Coward as Charlie; Emaan Durrani in her professional stage debut as Daniel and Maryam; Joanna Holden as Mrs Rodgers and Mrs Hutchinson; and Aizah Khan as Mum.
The creative team includes Adapter Asif Khan; Director Sameena Hussain; Set, Costume and Puppet Designer and Puppet Director Nikki Charlesworth; Lighting Designer Sam Osborne; Sound Designer and Composer Helen Skiera; Associate Lighting Designer Ryan Dunnett; and Casting Director Lucy Casson CDG.
The original Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet book is published by Hachette Children’s Group from whom Leeds Playhouse have acquired the stage rights.
The playful family-friendly show makes its premiere in the Courtyard Theatre at Leeds Playhouse from 7th to 25th April 2026, before transferring to the Unicorn Theatre from 21st May to 7th June and Birmingham Rep from 17th to 21st June.
