Kyle Dale with Danny Hall, are releasing a book entitled This is History: an Independent Oasis Archive with publishers Vertical Editions. At the moment it is only available for pre sale with release plans for the end of the month. The Reviews Hub are lucky enough to have a preview of these stories of the people at the periphery of this iconic band. The book shows rarely seen artifacts that Oasis obsessives have managed to collect on their fandom journeys. It features some of the often unknown names that helped them along the way such as Tony French, who designed the band’s original logo – the iconic swirl.
Tony McCarroll is a well known name when it comes to Oasis, having been a founding member, as the Rain, and then Oasis drummer. His input is in the book and he kindly allowed use of some of his personal, previously unseen images. McCarroll is now managed by Dale and gets involved with many Oasis events as a result.
Dale grew up in Manchester so it is not a surprise he followed Oasis from the start. When marriage moved him north of the border he started collecting memorabilia as a link to where he came from. Some years later a chance meeting with Owen Morris meant his life took a different turn, and gave him access to opportunities he could never have dreamed of. Morris is a record producer who worked with various bands including Oasis and The Verve. Having access to his fascinating repertoire of stories, and contacts, helped inspire Dale to start the company Bittersweet Home.
This in turn, led to exhibitions presented in Salford and London of various pieces of Oasis memorabilia, raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. This picture book features many weird and wonderful items including a golf buggy and a Pringles tin and should prove to be a must-have for any Oasis enthusiast.
