Three years after their first appearance together, Dillie Keane and Barb Jungr reunite for a Christmas Cabaret like no other with their show, Two Turtle Doves at the Crazy Coqs, Piccadilly.
Featuring songs by Tom Waits, Ray Davies, John Legend and a fabulous twist on The Twelve Days of Christmas, the duo has meticulously crafted a Christmas setlist unlike any other. They intentionally choose songs that stand out from the usual festive fare, resulting in a delightful collection of musical numbers.
Dillie Keane, a founding member of the legendary Fascinating Aïda, has dazzled audiences across the UK and beyond with her sharp wit and exceptional performances. Barb Jungr, acclaimed globally for her interpretations of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, brings her distinctive artistry to the stage, adding depth and colour to the proceedings.
The chemistry between Keane and Jungr is unmistakable. They clearly enjoy performing together, sharing a delightful rapport with each other and their audience. Despite their contrasting styles – from their outfits to their voices – they complement each other beautifully, creating a captivating and unique partnership. They even bring out a ukulele and harmonica for a couple of numbers, the latter of which is particularly accomplished.
On piano is Tony Award-winning musical director Sarah Travis, whose stellar career includes collaborations with Julian Clary, Fascinating Aïda, Lily Savage, Alvin Stardust, and Issy Van Randwyck.
This is comedy cabaret at its finest – playful, irreverent, and thoroughly entertaining. The relaxed atmosphere allows the audience to unwind and enjoy, and Crazy Coqs, with its intimate setting where no seat is more than ten yards from the stage, proves to be the perfect venue for such a performance.
Running just over an hour, the show is equal parts funny and mischievous – a great way to usher in the festive season.
