After four sell-out runs, the Irish Christmas Concert A Fairytale for Christmas is returning for its fifth, and biggest tour this festive period. Having seen over 200,000 tickets sold across 133 shows so far, this Christmas extravaganza has quickly become a fan favourite and worked its way into many families’ festive traditions.
Commemorating all things Christmas, this show is an energetic celebration of Irish tradition. Ranging from classic festive tunes such as I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday and Merry Christmas Everyone, through to Irish classics such as The Irish Rover. It is the perfect addition to any Christmas calendar, and perfectly sets the festive spirit alight in the auditorium.
After its one-night residency in the West End, the show will embark on a tour across the UK, preparing to bring joy and entertainment to thousands of festive fans. The cast at the Dominion Theatre is brilliantly strong. Composed of both singers and muso-singers, the band of five lead the show across a wonderful mix of all of your favourite Christmas songs. Paired with a band of glistening Irish dancers, the show celebrates Irish culture and tradition and is a perfect blend of traditional carols, popular tunes and Irish hits; there isn’t a dull moment in the two-hour spectacle.
The stage is decorated as a classic Christmas market, the costumes are quintessentially festive, and the Irish dancing dresses are beautifully sparkling – the whole show feels like a big nostalgic whirlwind and is guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s face. With singing along encouraged, it’s a brilliant show for all ages, and the relaxed nature of the show is what makes it all the more enjoyable. Its main mission is clearly to spread joy, and it more than succeeds.
With three alternating casts, the show plans to continue to dazzle audiences across the country. Playing at multiple venues until 22 December – head to Prestige Productions’ website to find your closest venue, to make sure you don’t miss this joyous show.
