Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals has announced that Jesus Christ Superstar will tour the UK following its two West End engagements. It is currently playing at the London Palladium, where it runs until 5th September 2026. It then moves to Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 16th October 2026 until 9th January 2027.
Sam Ryder, who rose to fame after competing for the UK in Eurovision, will continue in the role of Jesus as the production heads out across the nation on tour. Further casting for the tour is to be confirmed.
The production is directed by
Tim Sheader with choreography by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie and design by Tony and Olivier Award winner Tom Scutt. The trio reunites after creating the 2016 production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, which has since toured the UK and beyond. Also on the creative team are musical supervisor Tom Deering, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Adam Fisher, wigs, hair and make-up designers Sam Cox and Maria Johal, fight director Kate Waters and casting directors Grindrod Burton Casting.
This new UK tour will open at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on 11th February 2027 where it plays until 27th February 2027. It will then go on to Cardiff (Wales Millennium Centre); Newcastle (Theatre Royal); Edinburgh (Playhouse); Oxford (New Theatre Oxford); Norwich (Norwich Theatre Royal); Southend (Cliffs Pavilion); Blackpool (Winter Gardens); Birmingham (Hippodrome); Belfast (Grand Opera House); Bradford (Alhambra); Nottingham (Theatre Royal); Woking (Theatre); Milton Keynes (Theatre); Plymouth (Theatre Royal Plymouth); Glasgow (King’s Theatre); Southampton (Mayflower Theatre); Sunderland (Empire); Liverpool (Empire); Aberdeen (His Majesty’s Theatre); Hull (New Theatre) and Bristol (Hippodrome).
