From the moment we stepped into The Lowry for CBeebies House Party Live, it was clear we were in for something special. Colourful bunting adorned the entrance, and the excitement in the air was infectious. With vibrant characters, familiar songs, and interactive fun from start to finish, this was a show that knew exactly how to captivate its young audience—and keep the grown-ups smiling too.
As we took our seats, the screen came to life with cheerful animations and toe-tapping tunes like “The Cha Cha Beat,” setting the party atmosphere right from the get-go. The energy in the theatre was electric, only heightened by giant balloons bouncing around the crowd and bursts of streamers falling from the ceiling. It was a magical moment that had every child (and quite a few adults) grinning ear to ear.
Hosted by the ever-charismatic Evie Pickerill and Rhys Stephenson, the show was a non-stop celebration. Their energy never dipped, and their connection with the audience was genuine and joyful. They were joined by much-loved CBeebies favourites, including Justin Fletcher, Mister Maker, and Dougie, which sent waves of excitement through the crowd.
One especially fun moment involved the children helping to wake a very sleepy Justin. It was a simple interactive scene, but one that had the whole theatre shouting and laughing together. It was a lovely example of how the show was built around audience participation in the most engaging way.
Even the traditional CBeebies Goodnight Song made an appearance. But in true party style, it was cleverly reworked to keep the mood light and celebratory. Instead of signalling the end of the day, it became a sweet, funny twist that celebrated all the fun had at the House Party.
One of the standout elements was how interactive the entire performance was. Children were constantly encouraged to sing, dance, shout, and join in—a perfect recipe for keeping little minds engaged. The show was cleverly paced too, lasting just the right amount of time to keep the young audience fully entertained without losing focus.
A special mention must go to Emma Jane Mansfield, who provided BSL interpretation for the show. Her expressive performance matched the energy of the cast beautifully, ensuring the experience was accessible and inclusive—and just as much fun.
CBeebies House Party Live is a fantastic way to wrap up the summer holidays on a high note. Bursting with colour, music, laughter and a whole lot of love, this is one party you and your little ones won’t want to miss. Highly recommended!
