The new Honor 600 Pro stands out as a surprisingly solid choice for anyone looking for a top-tier phone. Without getting bogged down in complicated “tech jargon”. It delivers a straightforward, reliable experience for the everyday user with plenty of on board storage which should keep you away from needing to sign up for cloud based storage subscriptions.
The physical quality of the device becomes obvious the second it comes out of the box. It does not just look like a premium flagship. It genuinely feels like one. The glass back and metal frame give the Honor 600 Pro a sleek, high-end vibe that buyers usually expect from much more expensive luxury phones. The best part is that it does not feel delicate or slippery. It feels incredibly sturdy and well-built. It easily handles the usual bumps, drops, and scrapes of everyday life without shattering into pieces. The screen is also absolutely gorgeous. It is bright enough to comfortably read text messages outside on a sunny day without having to squint. Everything from scrolling through social media apps to watching movies feels incredibly smooth, crisp, and vibrant. Those who may be worried about using the phone in the great British Weather (or occasional drops in the toilet…we’ve all been there) don’t need to worry as the phone has the highest standard of protection which will more than cover the fiercest of rain storms.
A common complaint with most modern smartphones involves constantly hunting for a charger by late afternoon. With the Honor 600 Pro, that annoying problem completely disappears. The battery life on this device is just fantastic. You can rely on it heavily all day long to stream music, use navigation on a road trip, make hours of phone calls, and take lots of pictures, yet still have plenty of battery remaining at bedtime. Even if you manage to drain the battery, the phone’s fast charging capabilities ensures the phone is good to go in the same time it takes to have a quick cup of tea!
For those who take a ton of photos, the camera setup is easily (for this reviewer) the favourite feature of the entire phone. A lot of recent smartphones have a really bad habit of making photos look completely fake. Their processing software cranks up the brightness and colour saturation so much that the sky looks neon and the grass looks like a cartoon. The Honor 600 Pro completely avoids that frustrating trap. The image quality is superb with 200 megapixels, and the colours are incredibly true to life and authentic, whether you are taking an image of a friend or capturing a wide landscape shot of a sunset you will be impressed by the final image. Worries when using the zoom or shooting at night won’t be an issue either with both elements coming out with fantastic results for the everyday and prosumer buyer.
While the physical hardware is impressive, the device does have one major disappointment. The software experience straight out of the box is honestly quite annoying. The phone comes completely overloaded with bundled apps that most people simply do not need and will absolutely never use. And let’s not even get started on Honor’s consistent push to get you to sign up to its own ecosystem at every given opportunity. It gets annoying rather fast.
If you don’t mind spending twenty minutes deleting the junk apps and ignoring the constant account prompts, you are left with a brilliant piece of technology. The Honor 600 Pro delivers a gorgeous physical build, a massive battery anyone can actually rely on, and cameras that take beautifully natural photos. The pro’s and the price far outweigh the software downsides.
