Disney Theatrical Group and Disney Music Group/Walt Disney Records have officially announced the release of the Hercules Original London Cast Recording, celebrating the hit West End musical inspired by the beloved 1997 animated film. The album will be available for digital download and streaming from 10 October, followed by CD release on 21 November and vinyl on 5 December.
Featuring iconic songs such as ‘Go the Distance’, ‘Zero to Hero’ and ‘I Won’t Say (I’m In Love)’, the album also includes seven brand-new tracks written by Alan Menken and lyricist David Zippel, created specifically for the stage adaptation. The recording showcases the talents of the London cast, including Luke Brady as Hercules, Mae Ann Jorolan as Meg, Stephen Carlile as Hades, and Trevor Dion Nicholas as Phil, alongside a powerhouse ensemble of Muses and supporting characters.
Alan Menken shared his enthusiasm for the project, noting the joy of revisiting his original score and expanding the musical landscape with new songs and voices. David Zippel echoed the sentiment, celebrating the opportunity to deepen Hercules’s emotional journey and reconnect with the vibrant world of Mount Olympus.
The musical, currently playing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, features a new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah, and is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw with co-choreography by Tanisha Scott. The production brings ancient myth to life with a modern twist, offering audiences a bold, tunic-clad adventure filled with humour, heart and heroism.
CD and vinyl editions are available for preorder now via the Disney Music Emporium UK store and will also be stocked at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane merchandise shop later this winter.
