Leg warmers and crimped hair at the ready – you’re going to need to hold on to your hats. With a star studded lineup including Go West, Heaven 17, Nik Kershaw and T’Pau’s Carol Decker, Leeds Millennium Square hosts a pop-tastic evening of pure 80’s bangers.
The event, organised by Leeds City Council and backed by a live orchestra of 50, was well attended by a riotous crowd of varying ages. The atmosphere was electric and the drinks were certainly flowing. Buckle up, you’re in for a bumpy ride. Full throttle, high octane and giving us hit after 80’s hit. With songs you think you’ve forgotten in a night you’ll always remember.
The Opera North orchestra have never sounded so good and, if tonight is anything to go by, one is excited to attend the dance floor classics celebration tomorrow night.
So wave your hands in the air like you just don’t care – this is a welcome addition to the Millennium Square summer programme! More like this please. This is your reviewer’s first time reviewing a gig and 80’s Classical exceeded all expectations. The crowd were as energetic as the pure 80’s bangers performed – just wished one had dressed up – maybe tomorrow night? Seriously this show hits every spot and the Opera North orchestra have never felt so fresh. Buzzing is putting it mildly. Well done Leeds. Same time next year?
