The Voca People have been regulars at the fringe for the past few years and their latest production at The Pleasance Grand is perhaps their best executed production to date.
The Voca People are from the planet Vocca, which sits somewhere behind the sun, their only method of communication is through sound and melody and this is where the fun truly starts, as this is a vocal harmony group like no other.
The performers all Hail from Finland and this eccentric take on the art of beat boxing and accapella singing takes the genre onto a whole new level. Filled to the brim with outlandish comedy and silly sight gags (remember they don’t speak English) this group of bald white aliens illuminate the vast auditorium of the Pleasance Grand with a vocal symphony of sound, not only are they excellent vocalists whose range are out of this world, but they also provide and create every instrument only using their voices.
For their 2014 show the premise is that the Voca People have crash landed on earth and need our help to gain access to our vast catalogue of music to help them generate enough energy for their crashed spaceship to go back home.
Expect lots of audience interaction, if you think that by not sitting on the front row you are safe, then you better think again. Expect lots of laughter and expect some of the best music that will you find on the fringe this year.
