From the moment this Australian comedian bounded on to the stage (quite literally) he engaged the audience fully. Bearing in mind the wide audience demographic at this performance, that was no mean feat and the show quickly rose to great heights.
The humour flew thick and fast, covering almost every topic imaginable (and some quite unexpected) thus showcasing his own individual style of wry humour and sardonic wit. This award-winning comedy genius readily responded to audience reaction, was often side-tracked, which, in turn, led to more insightful observation on real life. He was obviously eager to share his life experiences, including his childhood, growing up gay in Australia, his marriage to a long-term partner, all delivered with panache and resulting in the right amount of sympathy and huge belly laughs from the thrilled audience.
A quick first act led to interactions between audience members, where laughter could be heard around the performance space.
The second act picked up the quick pace immediately with more quick-fire one liners. He fondly recollected experiences of the Edinburgh Fringe and Scotland in general, most favourably. In contrast he fired out his opinions of ‘that other country’, in a less complimentary style, although this definitely for the audience’s benefit.
Although the second set was longer time wise, the minutes flew past with the clientele left begging for more. With thirteen further dates in the UK leg of his tour before transferring to USA, it is clear that this camp comedian will continue to engage, entertain and enthral patrons the world over. This is a must-see show.
