NEWS: Wales to get European Amateur Premiere of Ghost the Musical

Following the announcement last year that the amateur rights to Ghost the Musical were to be made available a number of companies across the UK have been preparing their interpretations of the classic movie based musical. Act 1 Theatre Group based in Wales have the honour of producing the European premiere opening on Tuesday (24th June) at The Phoenix Theatre, Ton Pentre.

Just 15 weeks after the UK tour closed in Oxford, Ghost the Musical returns to the stage, fittingly receiving its European premiere in Wales as the UK tour did in 2013. The production based on the original London and Broadway productions sees real life couple Alex Pugsley and Rhoswen Morgan take on the iconic rôles of Sam and Molly with direction from Rhys Williams.

With the original production reported to have cost £10m to bring to the professional stage all eyes will be on The Phoenix Theatre to see how moments such as the iconic subway scene and walking through the door illusion will be performed on a somewhat smaller budget.

Bruce Joel Rubin, the writer of the original movie and the musical has been following the progress of the amateur version of the show and the theatre programme carries a personal message from him to the company and the audiences witnessing the birth of the next chapter of Ghost the Musical.

It’s time to believe all over again.

Phoenix Theatre, Ton Pentre from the 24th-27th June at 7:15pm
