Colchester’s Mercury Theatre is calling for local members of the public to share their photographs in support of a forthcoming production.
Alan Ayckbourn’s comedyA Pageantis running at the Essex venue in May and plans are in place to collate images of local pageants for a special display.
The theatre is asking for anyone of photographs of pageant they have organised, or taken part in, to share their images for the display.
The venues marketing officer Claire Owen said: “We’re hoping that lots of readers will donate photographs of pageants – it would be great to see some of the 1909 Colchester Pageant as well as other events that have taken place since then. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work of those people who organised these events, and the local characters that made them special.”
The photos will be displayed in the Mercury Theatre foyer during the run of A Pageant as well as on its website and Facebook page. Hard copy images will be scanned and returned to the sender.
A Pageant is part of Ayckbourn’s Intimate Exchanges season and is the third in the series after Events on a Hotel Terrace and One Man Protest, and before A Game of Golf. Just two actors, Ruth Gibson and Gwynfor Jones, take on all the rôles including crabby headmaster Toby and his long-suffering wife Celia.
If you can help, please send your photographs to Mercury Theatre, Balkerne Gate, Colchester CO1 1PT or drop them in to the Box Office for the attention of the marketing department. Alternatively, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
