The full cast has now been announced for the London revival of Chicago which opens on Wednesday 11 April 2018 at The Phoenix Theatre.
Paul Rider will take on the role of Amos Hart, it was announced today (12 March 2018). Rider, who has appeared as Amos in Chicago at both the Adelphi and Cambridge Theatres, joins a star-studded cast list that includes Cuba Gooding Jr, Sarah Soetaert, Josefina Gabrielle and Ruthie Henshall. With successful UK and international tours under its belt and following a 5½-year London absence, Tony, Olivier and Grammy award-winning Chicago opens at the Phoenix Theatre on Wednesday 11 April 2018 with previews from 26 March.
The cast also features Alan Richardson, Michelle Antrobus, Natalie Bennyworth, Nicola Coates, Frances Dee, Zoe Gappy, Emma Harris, Chelsea Labadini, Joanna Rennie, Abramo Ciullo, Francis Foreman, Luke Jarvis, Matt Krzan, Charles Ruhrmund, Todd Talbot, Callum Macdonald, Chris Warner Drake and Matthew Wesley.
Chicago first opened at the Adelphi Theatre in November of 1997 and was an immediate sell-out going on to run for 15 years and becoming the West End’s longest-running revival.
Since its first appearance in New York in 1996, Chicago has played in 36 countries and has been performed in many different languages including Dutch, Russian and Korean. Grossing over $1.5 billion worldwide, it has played over 30,000 performances to an estimated 31 million people.
Recently celebrating its 21st birthday on Broadway, where it continues to play, Chicago is the world’s longest running American musical.
Based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.
