On Friday 27th September at 7.30pm BST, people from the UK, US, Canada and Australia will be able to watch the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s revival of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods in its entirety for the first time ever in HD on YouTube. By accessing Digital Theatre’s unique service and joining in the conversation on Twitter (#IntoTheWoodsDT), you will be able join a potentially huge community of viewers, all watching a fantastic Olivier Award-winning production at the same time.
Digital Theatre launched in 2009 in partnership with a number of British theatre companies to capture live performance authentically onscreen global audience, allowing people to rent productions online, download them to computers or stream to mobile devices via their app. They also now have a paid YouTube channel and as with a limited run in the theatre, Into the Woods will be available on there just until 14th October.
The show can still be rented or bought online via their website after then but for the monthly subscription fee of £3.99, viewers will be able to access 10 other full-length productions from the West End and companies like the RSC and the Young Vic.
