New acts from across the country will get the chance to perform at one of the leading summer festivals as BBC Introducing announce they will be hosting a stage at this year’s latitude festival.
BBC Introducing have nurtured the careers of artists including Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine and George Ezra, all of whom have graced the stages of Latitude in previous years. Since its launch in June 2007, BBC Introducing now spans across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music, Radio 2, The Asian Network, Radio 3, The World Service and across the local BBC Radio network with over 170,000 musicians and 650,000 unique tracks uploaded to date.
The BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude will be programmed with classical, world, jazz, country and folk music that has been submitted via 36 local BBC Introducing shows. Tracks from each performance will be recorded for later broadcast across BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and the BBC Introducing local show network.
For Jason Carter, Head of BBC Introducing the opportunity to feature a range of music is a key attraction. “We are very excited to be returning with BBC Introducing to one of the best festivals on the UK calendar. BBC Introducing now sits across all BBC networks and covers many genres. This year we have a fantastic line up hosted by presenters from both Radio 2 and Radio 3”
The 11th Latitude Festival runs at Henham Park, Suffolk 14-17 July 2016.
