How would you describe your set in one sentence?
Britain’s Biggest Bridezilla gets married at Latitude, makes the audience her wedding guests and then presents the wedding speech from hell… you can see her on YouTube below!
Is this your first visit to the Latitude Festival, if so what interesting tales have you been told about what to expect?
It’ s my secondvisit, but myfirstvisit as aperformer. I have not heard any interesting tales as yet but hoping to creat some of my own. For example, is crowd surfing in a wedding dress a good idea?
How do festival audiences compare to other comedy audiences?
They are likely to be more muddy than your average comedy audience, possibly more drunk and more sunburnt.
How important is it for festivals such as Latitude to have comedy programming alongside the music acts?
I think it’s fantastic and adds some variety to the schedule. So you can dip in and out of music, comedy and all sorts of weird and wonderful things. That’s why I love Latitude. It’s got a brilliant mix of arts and there is something for everyone. It’s also great to see so many female comedy acts this year – many other festivals have a mainly male line up and Latitude has a brilliant mix.
How have you been preparing for festival life?
I am not prepared. Knowing me I will panic the day before and spend £500 in a camping shop and £500 in Boots on items I will probably not use. I should probably start trying to sleep in a tent to get used to it as I’m a light sleeper. I should probably actually get a tent too.
What do you think sets your show apart from all the other Latitude offerings?
I might be the only person to have ever worn a wedding dress to a festival. Am I Latitude’s first wedding? First Bride? My sets always create a world and give the audience an automatic rôle. So the world is my wedding and the audience are my wedding guests. So you not only get to go to a festival, you get to go to a wedding! And everyone loves a wedding… apart from when this Bridezilla I’m playing kicks off about some things that have gone a little bit wrong….
What’s the one act that you don’t want to miss at this year’s Latitude (apart from your own!)?
Laura Marling – I’m a huge fan. I’ve seen her a few times and love her new album. I might wear the wedding dress and throw her my bouquet.
Wellies or fancy footwear for the festival?
I do wellies. My Bridezilla character wears Jimmy Choo Wedding shoes. She is NOT going to be happy if it rains… or if they sink into the mud…
Are you camping at Latitude and if so what’s your one top camping tip?
Yes I’m camping. Camping tip: buy a tent. Don’t sleep in a wedding dress. You only need one ear plug if you are deaf in one ear like I am so that saves money.
Latitude is famous for its multi-coloured sheep – if your show was an animal what type of animal would it be?
A lion. A very angry lion in a wedding veil.
Anna Morris will be performing in the Cabaret Tent at Latitude on Friday 17th July
