The Emma Rice Company announces full casting for Rice’s adaption of Tristan & Yseult, marking the return of Kneehigh/Emma Rice’s original production. It was first seen on stage in 2003 and last seen in 2017.
Leading the cast are John Leader and Nandi Bhebhe as Tristan and Yseult respectively. They are joined by Matthew Churcher as Frocin, Tom Fox as Morholt and Brangian, Jack Heydon as Love Spotter, Stephanie Hockley as Whitehands, Edward Rowe as King Mark and Nigel Sudarkasa as Love Spotter.
In the band are Pat Moran, Stu Barker, Harry Miller, Philippa Hogg and, as alternate for New York run, Mary Johnson.
Tristan & Yseult is written by Anna Maria Murphy and Carl Grose and adapted and directed by Emma Rice. Stu Barker is the composer. Vicki Mortimer has refreshed Bill Mitchell’s original set and costume design. Simon Baker is the sound designer, Malcolm Rippeth is the lighting designer and Etta Murfitt is the choreographer and intimacy coordinator.
The tour of Tristan & Yseult will visit Theatre Royal Bath (11th to 19th September 2026), Theatr Clwyd in Mold (22nd to 26th September 2026), Citizens Theatre in Glasgow (30th September to 3rd October 2026), Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford (6th to 10th October 2026), The Royal Lyceum Edinburgh (20th to 24th October 2026), St Ann’s Warehouse in New York City (1st to 22nd November 2026), Oxford Playhouse (26th to 30th January 2027), Nottingham Playhouse (9th to 13th February 2027) and York Theatre Royal (6th to 17th April 2027).
