FIVE FAST FRINGE QUESTIONS with Sam Dunham on Curse of the Mummy

It’s that time of year when we launch our annual series of Fringe preview Q & A’s. Sam Dunham talks about his show Curse of the Mummy.

In one sentence tell us about your show.

Indiana Jones meets The Mummy in an hour of slick, slapstick comic mayhem with songs.

What made you decide to bring a show this year?

We thought it would be cheaper than a summer holiday. We were wrong. However, the Fringe is so packed full of great shows and talented people it’s hard to stay away, even if you know you’ll never get a tan.

Any advice you’ve heard or can give to anyone coming to the Fringe for the first time?

Make time for proper home cooked food. More than five kebabs in a week is bad. Eating well gives you the energy you need for a day full of networking, flyering and enjoying the shows. If you’re not a good cook, there’s some cheap restaurants that do great food such as Mosque Kitchen, Mums and Italian on the Mound.

What makes your show stand out from all of the others on offer? (Don’t say that it’s because you’re in it!)

Pretty sure it’s going to be the only show with a Mummy, a Nazi, Belly Dancers and a real life camel. (Due to budgeting restraints and camels not liking the Edinburgh climate, the role of camel we will played by two of our actors.)

What show, other than your own, do you not want to miss?

We love funny shows and having seen all of these acts before we guarantee you’ll leave with a smile on your face: 2 Become 1, the 90s musical; Trygve Vs a Baby, the funniest clown we know; and Zach and Viggo, who’ve been winning awards like nobody’s business.

Finally, the boring but essential bit…
