Our Brighton Bites series offers short, witty and slightly tongue-in-cheek insights into the offerings at England’s largest arts festival. Twig The Pixie, joined us to tell us all about his Family Funplosion show, performing at Komedia, Brighton.
How would you describe your show in one sentence?
A pixie-fuelled comedy riot of stories and stand-up comedy for all ages! Also about breaking the rules!
Is this your first visit to Brighton Fringe, if so what interesting tales have you been told about what to expect?
This is my first show in the Brighton Fringe. One of my best friends Slimy the Slug who lives by the swamp in the Enchanted Forest told me to expect nothing, then I will only be pleasantly surprised. Slimy the Slug has almost finished his doctorate in Philosophy with Interdimensional Relations at Queen Fairy University.
How has the show developed on the way to Brighton?
The show is a collection of stories and experiences, both from Fairyland and from doing childrens’ birthday parties and stand-up in Brighton over the last two years.
How have you been preparing for Brighton Fringe?
Making up silly stories every day in the reflection of the Magic Lake to practice for the section where I improvise a story based on their suggestions!
What do you think sets your show apart from all the other festival offerings?
I don’t think that there is enough out there for all generations of a family to enjoy together. This show should right the balance and get everyone laughing and having fun!
What’s the show that you don’t want to miss at this year’s Brighton Fringe (apart from your own!)?
James McDonnell : Beef. James is a very funny and hairy human.
If your show was a flavour of Brighton Rock, what would it be?
Rainbow flavour, which is my favourite flavour apart from the taste of hope and aspiration.
Twig the Pixie’s Family Funsplosion is being performed 7, 14 and 28 May2016
