BRIGHTON BITES: Mad Tom Theatre – Frankenstein: Man or Monster?

Back by popular demand for 2017, our Brighton Bites series offer short, witty and slightly tongue-in-cheek insights into shows performing at England’s largest arts festival. Hopefully, they will whet your appetite to try something new at this year’s Brighton Fringe.

Here, Mad Tom Theatre tells us about their show, Frankenstein: Man or Monster, which they’ll be performing at The Warren.

How would you describe your show in one sentence?
A gothic comedy with madness, a monster and a teddy bear

Why Brighton Fringe for this show?
Brighton is the friendliest fringe around

How have you been preparing for Brighton Fringe?
Learning lines and doing sit-ups

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other festival offerings?
One man performs all the parts in a show that includes a policeman, a singing cuckoo clock, a seven-year-old girl and a monster in a kilt.

What’s the show that you don’t want to miss at this year’s Brighton Fringe (apart from your own)?
In the Chips because of the Cheese – it answers the big questions, something I’ve been trying to do all my life. Just hope they answer the same big questions.

What’s the best bit of advice you’ve ever been given for performing at a Fringe Festival?
Have a good night’s sleep each night

If your show was a flavour of ice cream being sold on Brighton Pier, what would it be?
Plain Chocolate Toblerone – because it’s dark and sweet with a hint of Switzerland

Frankenstein: Man or Monster runs at Brighton Fringe 19- 21 May 2017
