Brighton Bites: Krent Tablowski: I Can Make You Make Yourself Better At Public Speaking In Front Of People(ICMYMYBAPISFOP)

After an amazing response last year we have once again resurrected our Brighton Bites mini-interviews. These short and snappy Q&As offer an, occasionally witty – often hilarious, insight into the acts strutting, sailing, surfing (insert preferred form of transport here) in to join the line-up of England’s largest arts festival, Brighton Fringe. 2018 was a record-breaking year for the Fringe with over 575,000 people attending the festival; and with 2019 promising to be more inclusive than ever, our Bites aim to give you a taste of what’s in store across the 4,500+ events and performances that are on offer.

Next up, the delightful Krent Tablowski himself tells us about his show Krent Tablowski: I Can Make You Make Yourself Better At Public Speaking In Front Of People which he’ll be performing at The Warren: The Burrow.

Describe your show in one sentence?
The only show that’ll be happening is ‘showing up’, from you, and that’s physically and mentally. Leave preconceptions and weakness at the door, as well as any large bags.

Why Brighton Fringe?
Brighton is a place full of people that are stuck in a rut that may seem unstuckable. Listen when I write this – no rut is unstuckable, no mountain unclimbable, no goal ungoalable.

How did the show get to where it is today?
Honestly? Life experience. This ‘show’ as you keep calling it, is an hour of my life smashing repeatedly into yours. Think of me as Count Dracula, but instead of sucking blood, I am biting your neck and blowing my own blood into your neck, and the blood is my experiences and honest advice, and it’s not Dracula but it’s me, Krent Tablowski (Nike athlete, blogger, life coach, social media influenza)

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other festival offerings?
ICMYMYBAPISFOP is, by its very nature, leagues above anything seen at this festival of Godforsaken circus clowns. Look I’m sorry but I’m not gonna be dancing around in a silly hat for you, or making my penis sing a duet with my balls to the soundtrack of Les Miserables (which won best ‘show’ at Fringe last year). What I am offering is pure, triple filtered, smooth honesty and integrity.

What show do you not want to miss at this year’s Brighton Fringe (apart from your own!)?
Omar Ibrahim, David McIver, Siblings, Pojj, Isa Bonachera, Toucan, Luke Rollason, Christian Brighty, Lucy Farrett, Mark and Haydn, Mother and Roger Clammy should be avoided at all costs for reasons I can’t go into.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given, or would give, for performing at a fringe festival?
That would have to beBrighton Fringe is an open-access arts festival held annually in Brighton, England. It is the largest annual arts festival in England[1] and one of the largest fringe festivals in the world. Brighton Fringe 2018 took place from 4 May – 3 June.” When I first read that I thought, “okay. Now we’re getting somewhere here.”

With the theme of this year’s festival being ‘DARE to Discover’, we’d like you to tell us a TRUTH – something about you or the show that fans may not know.
