BRIGHTON BITES: Georgie Morrell: A Poke in the Eye

Back by popular demand for 2017, our Brighton Bites series offer short, witty and slightly tongue-in-cheek insights into shows performing at England’s largest arts festival. Hopefully, they will whet your appetite to try something new at this year’s Brighton Fringe.
Here, Georgie Morrell tells us about her show, Georgie Morrell: A Poke in the Eye, which she’ll be performing at The Warren.

How would you describe your show in one sentence?
One woman…one eye…and her (sort of) blind life.

Why Brighton Fringe for this show?
It’s a highly accessible festival willing to take chances on shows other festivals might not.

How have you been preparing for Brighton Fringe?
All the publicity and social media! Check me out on TV! Channel 5!

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other festival offerings?
I talk about disability and make jokes about it. Not many people do that.

What’s the show that you don’t want to miss at this year’s Brighton Fringe (apart from your own)?
Gemma Arrowsmith: Earthing

What’s the best bit of advice you’ve ever been given for performing at a Fringe Festival?
GO FOR it! You have nothing to lose so make the most of it!

If your show was a flavour of ice cream being sold on Brighton Pier, what would it be?
Strawberry in a cone! I like strawberry!

Georgie Morrell: A Poke in the Eye runs at Brighton Fringe 24-26 May.
