Back by popular demand for 2017, our Brighton Bites series offer short, witty and slightly tongue-in-cheek insights into shows performing at England’s largest arts festival. Hopefully, they will whet your appetite to try something new at this year’s Brighton Fringe.
Here, Gehring & Ketelaars tell us about their show,Sexiety, which they’ll be performing atThe Marlborough Theatre.
How would you describe your show in one sentence?
Sexiety provides new insights about sex in a refreshing and interesting theatrical way, in a crossover between theatre, journalism and live music.
Why Brighton Fringe for this show?
We think it’s a match made in heaven
How have you been preparing for Brighton Fringe?
We’ve made the play in the Netherlands; now we are having the text translated, so study study study on English words… The trumpeter practices his songs.
What do you think sets your show apart from all the other festival offerings?
Of course, it’s hard to say since we don’t know the others, but Sexiety is a one-of-a-kind piece. It’s very personal theatre, mixed with mini-lectures and music. It provides many different perspectives on sex and sexuality.
What’s the show that you don’t want to miss at this year’s Brighton Fringe (apart from your own)?
Wacht, by Hiske Eriks
What’s the best bit of advice you’ve ever been given for performing at a Fringe Festival?
Enjoy, it’s crazy so better love it!
If your show was a flavour of ice cream being sold on Brighton Pier, what would it be?
Strawberry with chilli – it’s a known combination but really, sweet and spicy, if you want it, come to SEXIETY. And take a chocolate-coconut extra, and mango with fresh herbs! Okay, I’m a ice cream lover…
Sexiety runs at Brighton Fringe 1, 2, 3 June 2017
