With its UK premier in Liverpool, the team at Exhibition Centre Liverpool opened the doors today for Beyond Monet. An immersive exhibition of the artist’s impressionist works.
Off the back of the success of Beyond Van Gogh, Montreal’s Normal Studio, lead by creative director Mathieu St-Arnaud, have created an all encapsulating visual experience, taking visitors on a journey through over four-hundred pieces of Monet’s iconic work.
Many will know Monet’s most famous paintings: Woman with Parasol, The Water Lily Pond, Poppies and more, and to see them in situ is an art lover’s dream. The team at Normal Studios have taken this one, two… many steps forward, surrounding you in fields of blossoming poppies, garden picnics, over bridges under which water lilies float, allowing you to take a step into Monet’s impressionist world at the turn of the nineteenth century.
This all encompassing experience includes original music and sound effects allowing visitors to enjoy a sensory experience of the artist’s work.
Monet’s revolutionary painting style, emphasising light, colour, and atmosphere over precise detail makes for an enjoyable immersive experience. As his loose brushstrokes captured fleeting moments in time, so the experience of Beyond Monet moves from one moment in his artistic cannon to the next, allowing guests to observe the changing effects of light and weather, as Monet did directly on his canvas. Monet’s use of vibrant, unmixed colours placed side by side to create a shimmering, luminous effect works particularly well in this scenario.
With most of Monet’s work set in Giverny, this experience takes you to the beautiful rural idyll through the changing seasons of the late 1800s, it is something to behold.
Beyond Monet is an experience that any art lover should enjoy. It’s a relaxed pace and for those visitors to Liverpool who prefer a more action packed experience, this might not be your particular cup of tea – something to be aware of when booking your tickets. But once again, Liverpool is set to be the beginning of something very special for the UK as Beyond Monet premiers in this great city.
The team at Exhibition Centre Liverpool are wonderful hosts and are ready to welcome visitors to Beyond Money which you can see alongside Beyond Van Gogh until Friday 15th August.
