VAULT VIGNETTE: Ruaraidh Murray on Boxman

How would you describe your show in one sentence?

Boxman is the acclaimed comedy about a reclusive, OCD-oddball who lives in a cardboard box in his flat who falls for Mandy the check-out girl from his local supermarket.

Is this your first visit to the VAULT Festival, if so what interesting tales have you been told about what to expect?

I was at the VAULT Festival last year with my sell-out show Big Sean, Mikey and Me. I had a brilliant time!

How has the show developed on the way to the tunnels?

Boxman has managed to get himself into even deeper shit. He’s got to get out of it if he’s going to win Mandy…

How have you been preparing for VAULT Festival?

Boxman’s been jogging in the sitting room at 4am trying to get an eight pack to woo Mandy. I’ve been eating Wotsits and learning lines.

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other festival offerings?

I wouldn’t want my granny to come and see Boxman.

What’s the show that you don’t want to miss at this year’s VAULT Festival (apart from your own!)?

New York comedian Lucie Pohl’s Cry Me A Liver! Saw it in Edinburgh and laughed my head off.

If your show was a creature lurking in the depths of a dark tunnel what would it be?

You’re going to have to come and see Boxman at the VAULT Festival to find out…
